Rhino BJJ is a gym of firsts. It is lead by the originator of the first MMA (at the time known as NHB) fight team in Midland/Odessa Texas. The facility is coached by the organizer of the first competitive submission grappling and Brazilian jiu-jitsu tournaments in West Texas as well as the first charity grappling events in the area. Rhino BJJ also had lead students to being involved in the first pro MMA fights broadcast on live radio. Coaching the first west Texas fighter to be featured on Strikeforce (2-0 in Strikeforce appearances). Our fighter management also boasts the ability to have gotten fighters like Will Campuzano and TJ Waldburger into the UFC. It is also the first facility to promote and offer job specific self-defense for police officers. More importantly, Rhino BJJ is the first Brazilian jiu-jitsu and MMA gym to offer an exclusive team training environment, where members volunteer themselves for criminal background screening. This has helped makes Rhino BJJ a safe place for both men and women to reach their martial arts goals. It is the kind of gym where team events such as bar-b-ques, UFC screenings, team dinners, and family friendly events are encouraged. Whether it is to attend for personal enrichment and physical fitness, or to compete in grappling tournaments and MMA events such as the UFC, WEC, Bellator, and Shark Fights. Our focus is not to pressure our students to win gold medals, but to use the lessons of BJJ/MMA to help them become better people and become victorious in all of life's pursuits. The Nova Uniao family of Rhino BJJ invites you to set goals for your own "firsts" by coming in and trying a free class and become a part of something special.
